What teams ask Dagny

Where Dagny hears you

• Just mention it. Type @Dagny in any channel it's been invited to and ask away. It replies in a thread, so the channel stays tidy.
• Sometimes, no tag needed. Turn on room-reading and Dagny follows along in the channels you choose, the way a good colleague would. Most messages it lets pass. Sometimes it drops an emoji. And when it spots something it can genuinely help with, it jumps in. This is off until your workspace owner switches it on.
• Only where it's welcome. Your workspace owner decides which channels Dagny can read. Everywhere else, it keeps out.
• Home base. When you connect Slack, Dagny opens #ask-dagny. That's where it shares news.

What comes back

• A real answer, not a work in progress. You'll see I'm on it…while Dagny checks Stripe or reads Linear. When it's ready, the full answer appears in its place.
• Charts and files included. Ask about numbers and you might get a chart. Ask for a report or a spreadsheet and the finished file lands right in the thread.

What you can share

• Pictures and screenshots.Share one and ask about it, even one from earlier in the conversation. “Translate the screenshot above” just works. (PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF.)
• Files.PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets, slides, CSVs, plain text, anything up to 4 MB. Editors can hand Dagny a file to keep for later; anyone can ask questions about one.
• And it's effortless. No uploads, no portals. Whatever you'd show a colleague in Slack, you can show Dagny.

Every thread is a conversation

Mention Dagny again in the same thread and it picks up right where you left off. Start a new thread and you get a fresh start. And it's a team thing: anyone can jump into the thread and keep it going.

Dagny speaks up

• When something's worth knowing. Dagny keeps an eye on your business and drops one short note in #ask-dagny when it finds something. If there's nothing, it says nothing.
• When the work is done. Give it something big and go do your thing. Dagny works away in the background and comes back with the write-up and any files.
• When someone visits your site. If you like, Dagny can ping a channel when a new visitor lands on your website.

A few tips

• Ask where the conversation happened. Dagny reads the thread when you mention it, so it shows up already knowing the story.
• Send the file and the ask together. A file with a note beats a file on its own. Tell Dagny what you'd like done with it.
• Point at things.“The screenshot above” or “those numbers from earlier” work fine. Dagny sees what was shared before in the thread.
• Hand over the big stuff.Ask for a report or a deep dive and move on with your day. Dagny will come back when it's done.
• Tag it again for follow-ups. Unless room-reading is on in that channel, each follow-up needs an @Dagny.

Not yet

• DMs. Dagny lives in channels and threads for now. Direct messages are coming.
• Connecting tools.That happens on your Dagny dashboard. If a conversation needs a tool that isn't connected yet, Dagny points you there.
• Crossing surfaces. A Slack conversation stays in Slack. You can share a web chat answer to Slack, though.
