What Dagny does for accountants.

An accounting firm runs on deadlines. VAT returns, payroll and year-end accounts each come with a date that cannot move. Between those dates, clients send questions, receipts and price requests. In tax season, the questions pile up just when your team has the least time.

Dagny takes the email work around the deadlines. It gives no tax or accounting advice, and it never touches the books. Your team gets more time for the accounts themselves.

  1. 01

Chase receipts before each VAT deadline

Late receipts turn every VAT deadline into a rush. You give Dagny the dates and the clients who still owe documents. Dagny writes a short reminder to each of them, as many days before the deadline as you choose. You approve the list, and Dagny sends the reminders from your inbox.

  2. 02

Answer the same client questions once

Clients ask the same things every month: which documents you need, and when the next deadline falls. You write the answer once, and Dagny saves it as an automation. Next time a client asks, Dagny drafts the reply from your own words. A question that needs your professional judgement goes straight to you.

  3. 03

    Welcome businesses that switch accountant

A company that changes accountant needs clear steps. When a new client says yes, Dagny writes the welcome email with your own checklist: access, last year's accounts and a contact person. Dagny follows up the items that are still open.

  4. 04

Follow up bookkeeping quotes to new companies

A new limited company often asks three accounting firms for a price. Dagny keeps track of each open quote and writes a follow-up after the number of days you set. The follow-up mentions what the founder asked about in the first email.

  5. 05

Prep the year-end meeting with each client

Before a year-end meeting, Dagny reads the email thread with that client. It lists the questions they asked this year, the quotes still open and the points you promised to check. The brief is in your inbox the evening before.

What does an accountant do day to day?

  1. Monday

Receipts still out before the VAT date

Dagny lists the clients who still owe receipts for the current VAT term. It shows how many days remain before the deadline. You choose which clients get a VAT reminder today.

  2. Tuesday

    Replies to practical client questions

Dagny sorts the client questions that came in since Friday. It drafts replies to the questions about documents and dates from answers you saved before. Questions about tax treatment go to you without a draft.

  3. Wednesday

    Price requests from new companies

Dagny reads new price requests from founders and small firms. The draft reply shows your monthly packages and asks for the company type and the number of invoices. You set the monthly price before it goes.

  4. Thursday

Briefs for next week's client meetings

Dagny reads the email thread with each client you meet next week. Each brief lists their open questions and the documents they still owe. The meeting briefs wait in your inbox.

  5. Friday

    Open quotes and new clients

Dagny finds the bookkeeping quotes that new companies have not answered. It drafts a follow-up to each founder. New clients with open items on your welcome checklist get a short reminder that you approve.

Reviews for accountants.

Review request after the year-end accounts for a small limited company

Hi Ingrid, thank you for the good work together on the year-end accounts for your company. If you are happy with us, a short Google review helps other business owners find our firm. Here is the link.

Reply to a 3-star review

The review: The client liked the accounts but waited a week for answers to two emails in May.

Thank you for an honest review of our work on your accounts. In May, the tax returns fill our week, and we should have told you when to expect an answer. We are glad the accounts are in order.

When is busy season for accountants?

  1. January

    The shareholder register return

A limited company must file the shareholder register return by 31 January. In early January, Dagny writes to each limited company client and asks about changes in shares and dividends. You approve the text and the list of limited companies.

  2. April

The first VAT term of the year

The VAT return for January and February is due on 10 April. Weeks before that date, Dagny drafts receipt reminders to the clients who still owe documents. You decide how many days before the deadline they go out.

  3. May

    Tax returns for business clients

The tax return for sole traders and companies is due on 31 May each year. Dagny writes a short note to each business client about the documents you still need. A client who asks for more time gets a draft reply that follows your rules.

  4. August

    VAT after the summer holiday

The VAT return for May and June is due on 31 August. That date comes right after the summer holiday, so Dagny prepares the receipt reminders for the first week of August. You approve the VAT reminders when you are back.

  5. December

The last VAT date before year-end

The VAT return for September and October is due on 10 December. Dagny drafts the receipt reminders in late November. Each client also gets a short note about what you need for the year-end accounts.

Dagny learns your services, your tone, and how you like things done.

Questions.

New to AI? Start here.

  • How do accounting firms get new clients?

New clients often find a firm through a referral or a Google search. Fast replies to price requests and steady follow-ups turn those searches into clients. Dagny writes both for the firm, and an accountant approves each one.

  • What should an accountant have on their website?

A page for each service, the clients you serve, your authorisation and what your monthly packages include. Add a short page on how to switch to your firm. Dagny makes and updates these service pages from a short message.

  • Can AI answer client questions for an accounting firm?

Yes, for practical questions about documents and deadlines, from answers you approve once. Dagny gives no tax or accounting advice of its own. When a question needs your judgement, Dagny sends it to you and does not reply.

  • How can accountants use AI?

The easiest way is to hand the everyday admin to an AI that already knows the business. For accountants, Dagny answers new enquiries, follows up quotes and keeps the website current, in Slack, iMessage, WhatsApp or email. Tell it "We can take on five more clients before the tax season." and it comes back with a Google post, an email to the twelve who asked about switching and two drafts to review by Friday.

  • What can Dagny automate for accountants?

The work that repeats every week for accountants: replies to enquiries, quote follow-ups, review requests, the Monday numbers, your Google profile and your website. And the prep: ask "Can you prep me for the Solberg meeting tomorrow?" and Dagny writes a brief with what was agreed and what is still open. Anything you ask for twice can be saved as an automation.

  • How much does Dagny cost for accountants?

Accountants start free with $100 in credits and no credit card. Starter is $20 a month and Human in the loop is $750 a month. No contract, cancel any time.

  • Do I need to change my tools?

No. Dagny connects to the tools accountants already use, like Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Business Profile, Excel and Stripe, and works in the channels you are already in. Nothing to migrate, and you choose what Dagny can see.

  • Does Dagny send things without asking?

No. Dagny drafts, you approve, Dagny sends. Ask "Can you add year-end accounts to the site? From 9 900." and Dagny replies "Here is the site with the new page. Go live with it?" Nothing goes live until you say yes.
